Benzoyl peroxide is the world’s most frequently prescribed antiseptic for acne. Clindamycin and lincomycin are the world’s two most frequently prescribed antibiotic for acne. Formulated together in Benzaclin, they give the bacteria that cause acne a one-two punch that can make it possible for you to get rid of acne for good.

You may be familiar with benzoyl peroxide (also known as BP, with no reference to the oil company) as a cleansing foam. This product gets down into pores and kills nearly 100 per cent of the Propioniobacterium acnes infection inside a pore in just two days, but that’s not all. BP also exfoliates the skin. It stimulates the production of new skin, which pushes dead skin cells further away from the surface. The first time you use the product, you may experience a little flaking and peeling. Just moisturize, and this effect goes away within a week.

Clindamycin attacks skin infections caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. Strictly speaking, these are not the bacteria that cause acne, but sometimes the infection looks a lot like acne. Staph infections of the skin usually cause an elevated pimple with a round or oval yellow center. These infections are filled with pus and they can hurt. BP does not deal with this kind of skin infection.

If you are using an clindamycin ointment, chances are the formula will contain a skin product called adapalene, which helps the antibiotic reach the layers of skin where it is needed about 10 times faster. This antibiotic is also effective against many strains of the dreaded MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) that can contaminate hospital wards and locker rooms.

Lincomycin is an antibiotic that like penicillin was first discovered in a mold. The value of lincomycin is that it treats infections that cannot be treated with penicillin, and it can be used by people who cannot take penicillin. It is especially useful in treating the bacteria found in crusts around the eyes.

Benzaclin puts all three of these products together in a single easy-to-use formula. The product comes in a care kit that includes a hydrating serum, Viscontour, which is made from the natural product hyalouronic acid. This is the natural material that helps soft tissues and skin hold together and hold in moisture.

It’s actually very important not to dry out skin if you want to treat acne. The problem is not too much moisture, it’s too much oil. Moisture in your skin keeps it soft and flexible so pores don’t clog. The hydrating serum in this product both helps clear up acne and keeps new blemishes from forming.

Things that should “go without saying” usually can’t, so there is this warning about the product: Don’t eat it. In your colon, it can fight the bacteria you need to stay healthy and leave nutrients for Clostridium bacteria that hurt you. However, on the skin, there are very few precautions for using the system.

Make sure you use sun block. You don’t want the sun to bake out the moisture the product puts in. If you have flaking skin, use additional moisturizer. This effect usually goes away as the condition of your skin starts to normalize. And, of course, if you experience allergic symptoms such as swelling or shortness of breath, see your doctor right away. Don’t use the product if you have a history of colitis.
